Horseback Riding Lessons
At Horse Shadow Run, we offer lessons in a variety of disciplines for riders of all ages and skill levels. Our programs include basic Western and English riding, lower-level dressage, and equitation, all taught by our highly qualified and experienced instructors. With over 40 years of combined training and education, our team is known for its skilled, patient approach, and many have trained with top professionals in the equestrian world. We’re proud to have a wonderful herd of experienced, well-trained lesson horses and ponies to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for every rider. If you’re a beginner starting your equestrian journey or a seasoned rider wanting to explore show jumping, we have the perfect instructor for you. Please note that show jumping lessons are available only for riders with their own horse. *Weight limit of 170 lbs for all riders* Lesson Rates Monthly Rate $280 per month (4 Lessons) non-Monthly Rate $75 for a 1 hour group lesson (3+ riders) $85 for a 45 minute semi-private lesson (2 riders) $95 for a 45 minute private lesson

Summer Camps 2025
Give your child a summer camp experience they’ll never forget at Horse Shadow Run! Conveniently located near Uptown, Dilworth, and Huntersville in Charlotte, NC, our horse camps run throughout the summer and are perfect for riders of all skill levels. Campers will immerse themselves in a variety of riding disciplines while learning how to groom, care for, and bond with their assigned horse. Through engaging group instruction, riders of all levels—beginner, intermediate, or advanced—build confidence and develop their equestrian skills. Beyond the barn, campers enjoy trail rides, games, arts and crafts, and plenty of fun activities. The highlight of the week is a special performance, where campers showcase their new skills and “dress up” their horse for the big event. At Horse Shadow Run, your horse will enjoy the best of both worlds—ample time outdoors in spacious paddocks and the comfort of stalls during feeding or severe weather. Our boarding services include daily stall and paddock cleaning, twice-daily feedings with premium second-cut Orchard Hay, and fresh water. We also administer medications, provide the supplied supplements, and coordinate with vets and farriers to ensure top-tier care for your horse. Experience peace of mind knowing your horse is cared for in a safe, supportive environment. Full board starts at $750 per month.

Horse Shadow Run was established over 20 years ago by Ms. Melanie, a passionate and experienced horsewoman with over 40 years of expertise. Under her guidance, the barn became a beloved destination for students and horse owners. Today, we are honored to carry on this legacy with the same dedicated instructors and staff who have been the heart of our farm's success. We are also fortunate to have Ms. Melanie as a consultant, ensuring continuity and expert guidance. As neighbors to this beautiful property for the past five years, we’ve always admired its charm and the smiles it brings to visitors of all ages. While we’re new to the world of horses, we are committed to creating a space where kids and families can enjoy safe, engaging experiences that build confidence and spark a love for riding. I love Horse Shadow Run! My family and I got to tour the grounds with the owner and saw first hand how much he and the staff care about their horses. One horse had recently had surgery and is bonded with another horse. They moved them to a stable so that they can be near each other. It is such peaceful place and I look forward to coming back soon.

Horse Shadow Run is the best barn in the city. The owners are spectacular and accessible, the instructors are kind and great teachers, and the students all get along and have a blast in both regular weekly lessons, group lessons, summer camps, and birthday parties. They are taught from the ground up and have hands on the horses from getting them from the pastures to learning how to brush and tack to riding and after care. Worth every penny!
